Midland Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. provides fire protection along with rescue and first responder services for the citizens of Southern Cabarrus County as well as the Town of Midland . Citizens in the Midland Fire District pay a fire tax of .055 per one hundred dollars of accessed property value for fire protection and this is accessed by and collected by Cabarrus County . Citizens inside the Town Limits of Midland have no fire tax accessed, but through a contract with the Town of Midland financial consideration is provided for by the Town of Midland .

Midland Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. currently operate Fire Station One out of the station that was built in 1978 at 12805 US Hwy 601 South.   Midland Station 2 opened May 29, 2008 located at 369 Hwy 24-27 providing fire protection to the western corridor of Hwy 24-27.

Midland Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. currently with a class 6/9 insurance rating, issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshal.

Midland Fire Department provides a wide range of services not limited to but including fire protection, emergency medical first responder services and rescue. The North Carolina Association of Rescue and Emergency Medical Services recognize Midland Volunteer Fire and Rescue as providers of Medium Rescue, Ambulance EMS, and Water Rescue consisting of Swift Water, Open Water, Dive Rescue and Ice Rescue.
